I'm Elle Harrison — web designer, brand strategist, and former naturopath. I've been building websites for health practitioners since 2018, which means I understand both sides of this: what patients need to see to feel safe enough to book, and what practitioners need to feel proud of how they show up online.

A few things you might be wondering.

I've tried DIY before and it never looks right. Why would this be different?

Because Margaux is designed specifically for practitioners, not adapted from a generic layout. The page structure, section order, and content placement are based on what actually converts for health and wellness practices — and the rich, considered styling means it doesn't read like a free template. You're not starting with a blank slate, you're starting with the right foundation.

How customisable is it? Will mine look like everyone else's?

Margaux is a Squarespace 7.1 template with no custom code, which means the full Squarespace style editor is open to you. Change the colours, fonts, images, and section layout to suit your brand. You can duplicate and rearrange sections, set different background colours per page and per section, and add or remove content blocks as needed. Most people end up with something that looks quite different from the demo — which is entirely the point. The template gives you the structure; you make it yours.

What Squarespace features are available in this template?

Because Margaux is built on Squarespace 7.1 with no custom code, every native Squarespace feature is available to you — looping video backgrounds on hero sections, online scheduling, e-commerce and payment portals, member areas, embedded booking tools (including Cliniko, Acuity, and others), and more. If Squarespace 7.1 supports it, this template supports it. Nothing is locked or restricted.

Can I link the booking buttons to an external platform I already use?

Yes. All buttons can be linked to any external booking platform. You can also embed a booking widget directly onto a page if you'd prefer that over a separate link — Squarespace supports both approaches natively.

Do I need a Squarespace account before I buy?

No. The template is transferred directly to you via your email address through a Squarespace contributor invite. If you don't have an account yet, you'll be prompted to create one when you accept the invite — it's best to set up billing after the template has landed with you. If you already have a live Squarespace site, the template can be transferred straight into your existing website.

What if I'm not very technical?

Squarespace is built for non-developers and the setup instructions walk you through every step. Because Margaux uses no custom code, everything is editable through Squarespace's visual editor — no coding knowledge required at any point.

Do I need to write all the copy myself?

Can I use my existing domain name, and how does Squarespace perform for SEO?

Yes — you can point your current domain to your new Squarespace site. Squarespace provides straightforward tutorials for this and it typically takes effect within 24 to 48 hours. For SEO, Squarespace is just as capable as any other platform provided the setup is done correctly — metadata, page titles, image alt text, and content structure all matter. The template gives you a clean technical foundation to build on.

Can I migrate the site to WordPress or another platform later?

Squarespace sites don't migrate directly to other platforms, so this is worth factoring into your decision upfront. If you think you're likely to move platforms in the future, that's worth considering before purchasing.
